We have 2 pick your own strawberry fields:

Visit with our farm animals while here at Calhoun Produce Farm.
 
See our new baby mule and baby donkey when you come to Calhoun Produce Farm Market.                                                 Our Strawberry patch in Turner County- located directly behind the packing shed. North on 1-75, Exit 84-turn right -go 3 miles- turn left, then 5 miles.

South on I-75, Exit 92-turn left -6 miles on right, 5075 Hawpond Road, Ashburn, Ga.

THE FIELD TRIPS ARE  AT OUR TURNER COUNTY LOCATION.

Playground at the Farm Fresh Market of Calhoun Produce Strawberry Field trips:

Strawberry field trips are a great learning experience for everyone of all ages. Just call ahead and book your field trip to or Strawberry patch. Field trips are booked for the month of April and May. 

Ages-3 yrs- 1st grade- 
$6.00 per child.


 There is not a charge for parents, teachers or siblings for the field trip.  They are welcome to follow along and are treated as a regular customer. They pay for any strawberries or other items they chose to purchase.

We do field trips for Pre-k, Kindergarten, 1ST Grade Classes, Day Care, after school groups, scouts, church groups, and home schools..

 

STRAWBERRY FIELD TRIPS INCLUDE:

  • AN EDUCATIONAL TALK AND VIDEO:  WE TEACH THE CHILDREN HOW WE GROW THE STRAWBERRIES.  THEN WATCH A VIDEO OF HOW WE PLANT THE STRAWBERRIES IN OCTOBER, FROST PROTECTION IN THE WINTER MONTHS AND HOW YOU SHOULD PICK THE STRAWBERRIES. 
     
  • A VISIT TO THE STRAWBERRY PATCH:  EACH CHILD IS GIVEN A CONTAINER TO PICK IN AND AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO THEY ARE ESCORTED TO THE STRAWBERRY FIELD AND SHOWN WHERE TO BEGIN PICKING. 
     
  • WAGON RIDE THROUGH THE PASTURE AND CLOSE UP VISIT WITH ANIMALS.
     
  • VISIT WITH FARM ANIMALS AND LITTLE RED BARN ANIMALS.  WE HAVE BUNNIES, PIGS, COWS, CHICKENS, SHEEP, GOATS, DONKEY, HORSES, MINIATURE PONIES, AND BUFFALO.
     
  • EACH CHILD RECEIVES A LITTLE CUP OF OUR HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY LEMONADE.
     
  • A TAKE-HOME COLORING BOOK:  EACH CHILD TAKES HOME A COLORING BOOK WHICH WILL REINFORCE WHAT THE CHILDREN SAW AND LEARNED WHILE ON THE FARM! 
     
  • A PLAYGROUND AREA:  SAND BOX AREA, LARGE SWING SET, VOLLEYBALL AND BASKETBALL AREA.
     
  • LARGE PICNIC AREA

E Each month we will feature a different strawberry recipe. We would love for you to share a strawberry recipe with us. If you would like to submit a recipe please email your strawberry recipe  below.

Christy’s Strawberry Margarita Cake 


Christy’s Strawberry Margarita Cake

Cake: 

1 box white cake mix

4 eggs

˝ cup vegetable oil

1 cup strawberries (chopped or sliced)

1 box wild strawberry Jell-O

˝ cup Jose Cuervo-Strawberry Margarita (with Tequila)

1 lime

Combine first 3 ingredients with electric mixer.  Add Strawberries.  Beat.  Mix  Jell-O & Jose Cuervo.  (Jell-O may not dissolve completely.)  Add to cake mixture.  Add juice from lime.  (add zest of lime if desired.)  Mix all ingredients together.  Bake in 9 inch cake pans (3) at 350 degrees until done.  Cool completely. 

Icing:

1 – 8 oz. cream cheese

2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

2-4 limes

Cream cheese should be room temperature.  Beat with mixer adding powdered sugar slowly.  Add the zest of 2-4 limes as well as juice from 1-2 limes.  Mixture should be thick.  Ice cake and chill.
